| The Alliance for African Assistance is a non-profit agency founded in 1989 by a refugee to help fellow refugees from Africa living in San Diego. Since then it has expanded to serving refugees from all over the world, and has over 50 staff members originall from 16 different countries. |

| Children's Urgent Care Centers provide care to those less severely ill or injured patients. This arrangement uses resources efficiently and frees the emergency care staff to treat the more severe cases that come through its doors, especially during peak evening and weekend hours. Visits typically last less than 90 minutes and prices are competitive with other area hospitals. Additionally, the Urgent Care Center has access to Children's 24- hour pharmacy, as well as the hospital's lab and X-ray capabilites. Interpreters, fluent in all major languages, are available 24 hours a day, and discharge instructions are pre-printed and written in English or Spanish. |
