| The Tijuana River Estuary might be the least visited place in all of San Diego County, as it is hidden in the shadows of the city and is literally the last place to visit before reaching the border to Tijuana. An intertidal coastal estuary, this reserve is home to salt marshes, endangered flora and fauna and is an ideal destination for the avid bird watcher and nature walker. The Reserve offers both foot paths and horse trails with four miles of marked educational trails. Guided nature walks are conducted every Saturday and trails are open during daylight hours seven days a week. Information about guided nature walks is available at the Reserve Headquarters as well as a walker's guide with a detailed map and information about habitats and the flora and fauna of the Reserve. -- Claudia Banuelos |
